#5 TITIAN PONYTAIL BARBIE, BOX, STAND, WRIST TAG, SUNGLASSES, BOOKLET, ETC. 1961.
SOLD

BRUNETTE SWIRL PONYTAIL BARBIE IN BOX: WRIST-TAG, SWIMSUIT, EARRINGS, HAIRPIN, SHOES, ETC., 1962.
SOLD

TITIAN "REDHEAD" SWIRL PONYTAIL BARBIE IN BOX:
WRIST-TAG, SWIMSUIT, EARRINGS, HAIRPIN, SHOES, ETC., 1962.
This vintage, 1962 PONYTAIL BARBIE is still in her vintage BOX with original LINER and WRIST-TAG, original PEARL EARRINGS on wire, metal HAIRPIN, gold WIRE STAND, Fashion BOOKLET,  Open Toe SHOES, and red Helenca SWIM SUIT.
Barbie is marked “Midge ™ © 1962 Barbie ® © 1958 Mattel. Inc. Patented” on her butt.
Barbie has painted eyebrows (faded a bit after the arch on one side), molded and painted black eyelashes with blue eye-shadow, painted side-glance blue eyes.  She has pink lip color,  with slightly darker pink coloring on her finger and toe nail polish.  No missing fingers.  The soft brunette mohair is in Swirl Ponytail style with a replaced ribbon at the end.
The box is marked “Stock No. 850 Imported From Japan Redhead  *” and then there is a orange sticker applied, which reads “Ponytail”.  The other end of the box is dated © 1962.
The fashion booklet, dated 1963, is Book 1 of “Exclusive Fashions By Mattel”.
CONDITION:
BARBIE DOLL:
As mentioned, there is light fading to the end of one eyebrow, and light rubs to the edges of both eyelashes.  There are rubs to the fingernail polish (mostly at the tips) and virtually no polish on the toenails.  There are some scratches here and there and some indentations on the wrists—most like made by the little teeth of her original owner.  There is also a pin-dot mark along the edge of her jaw, and a line across her nose (please see the photos).
The hair is uncut, although flattened from laying in the box for so many years.    Again, the ribbon has been replaced.
There wasn’t any green in her ears, but when we inserted the earrings, a tiny bit of green was left around the edge of the hole.  This is NOT in the vinyl—just around the edge of the hole.  The metal stem on one earring is shorter than the other, but doesn’t impact on it’s ability to insert and display.
The Helenca swimsuit is in good condition.  No runs, but a few loose threads around the seams.
Shoes are in fair condition.  Although the photo shows both shoes without splits, one shoe has developed a split across the instep.  They are unmarked.
Black painted wire stand is very fine, without bends or heavy wear.
BOX:
The box is in fair condition.  There is scotch tape on two corners of the lid and one corner of the bottom.  The bottom of the box has some writing, both in pencil and in ink.  Looks like markdowns of the original price—or someone’s homework!  As mentioned, the white cardboard liner is a replacement.
As you can see by our photos, this doll displays SO VERY NICELY!!  We do not want our high bidder to have any surprises, and therefore have tried to mention anything that might be a concern.  Please feel free to ask any questions you may have concerning this vintage Barbie.

BLONDE SIDE-GLANCING NAPE CURL TALKING BARBIE DOLL in THE LACE CAPER, TALKS! 1970.
Wonderful example of a blonde-haired, side-glancing talking Barbie!

Barbie has been professionally repaired to talk.  She says all six of her phrases:

  1. Help me get ready for the dance.
  2. Let's go visit P.J.
  3. Hi, I'm Barbie, What's your name?
  4. I love to dance, don't you?
  5. Would you like to be a model?
  6. Let's have a fashion show together.

Barbie comes with the original Barbie Fashion called "The Lace Caper" from 1970.  This consists of two-piece lace tunic and bell-bottomed pants, and sheer pink long vest which ties at the neck.  The tunic closes with a snap at the back of the neck, and the pants have an elastic waist; marked with the black/whit stitched Barbie tag.  A pair of matching pink "chunky/pilgrim" shoes are on her feet.
The tunic may be a variation... the diamond pattern is outlined in light tan.  It's hardly noticeable, but can be seen upon closer inspection.  The pants are completely white.
The hair is styled back into the original style with curl simply tied back at the nape of her neck.  The doll was made in Mexico.
CONDITION:
This is a stunning version of Talking Barbie!  There are no earring holes.  The facial paint is bright and vivid.  The sides of the torso were opened during the repair, but was nicely resealed.  No green ear or neck splits.  Rooted eyelashes are full and intact.  Both legs clicks and holds 3 positions, and legs are not "swingy".  Hair is shiny  with just a fly-away here and there.
The Lace Caper outfit is in very fine condition... The lace is nice and clean, undamaged.  The sheer vest is fine without pulls in the material.
Don't take our word for it... Hear Barbie speak for yourself!  If you would like to have an idea of what she sounds like, click on the sound box below.  We have recorded some of her phrases.   If it sounds low, please adjust your speakers.  Here's what you'll hear:

BLONDE
SIDE-GLANCING NAPE CURL TALKING BARBIE DOLL in BLUE ROYALTY, 1970.
Wonderful example of a blond-haired, side-glancing talking Barbie!
Barbie comes with the original Barbie Fashion called "BLUE ROYALTY", #1469, which is in near mint condition--honestly one of the best examples we've come across in a long time!
This outfit consists of a shimmering iridescent blue sleeveless gown with gold rickrack trim, a "chubby" white "fur" jacket with gold braid trim, and a pair of matching "Pilgrim" or "Chunky" shoes.
The gown closes with two snaps in the back.  The "Chubby" jacket is lined with blue sateen which perfectly matches the lining of the gown, and is marked with the black/white stitched Barbie tag.
The hair has been restyled back to the original with her many curls simply tied back at the nape of her neck.  The doll was made in Mexico.

Don't take our word for it... Hear Barbie speak for yourself!  If you would like to have an idea of what she sounds like, click on the sound box below.  We have recorded some of her phrases.   If it sounds low, please adjust your speakers.  Here's what you'll hear:

"Let's go visit P.J. "
"Would you like to be a model?"
"Let's have a fashion show together."
"Would you like to be a model?" (repeated... it's her favorite saying!)
"I love to dance, don't you?"

This is a beautiful version of Talking Barbie!  There are no earring holes.  The facial paint is bright and vivid with her side-glancing blue eyes and tomato-red lipstick.
The sides of the torso were opened during the repair, and nicely resealed for the most part.  There are a few flaws at the neck, but these are covered by the "Chubby" jacket's "fur" and her full head of curly hair.  No green ear or neck splits.  Rooted eyelashes are intact, but one plug over her left eye is a little thin.  Her left leg clicks 3 times and holds 2 positions; her right leg clicks and holds 3 positions.  There are a few tiny pin-holes at her ankles.  Hair is shiny  with just a fly-away here and there.
The gown is in near mint condition--just a few of the iridescent plastic strips are starting to unravel from the gold rickrack in the back of the gown.  The iridescence of the gown is even with no fading, rips, or tears.
The "Chubby" jacket is nice and plushy, un-matted.
The shoes are fine with no damage.
This doll is a really beautiful doll which you can see displays ever so nicely.  Please view all the photos in their largest size and feel free to ask us any questions you may have.
